About IAP Twin Cities Branch
Pediatricians of Hyderabad and Secunderabad came together Forty years ago, to revive the ac vi es of Pediatric Academy, under the name of “IAP Twin ci es Branch” Dr. Y.C. Mathur as 1st President and Dr. K.V. Raghava Rao as Honorary Secretary, Branch started func oning from Sept. 1986. Over years strength of members increased from 250 to 2000.
The Branch ac vi es were not much affected by forma on of new state of Telangana. As the GHMC area expanded, the Branch became one of the largest and vibrant branches of IAP. Most of the ac vi es were conducted in Niloufer Hospital and annual Dr A.K. Dikshit ora on at Ritz Hotel. Dr. Harishchandra Guest lecture is an annual feature of IAP Twin ci es conven on, which is being conducted from 1995.
Every 1st Thursday of the month , Clinical mee ng is being conducted. Cases used to be brought to the Auditorium, Niloufer hospital, 1hour before mee ng, to be seen by member, before discussion. Later various ins tu ons also took interest to conduct clinical mee ngs.
IAP Twin City Branch hosted IAP Na onal Conferences in 1990, 2000, 2010. 2016 &2024. It also hosted Pediatric Nephrology Update during conven on in 1998. The branch hosted Pediatric Pulmonology conference twice, Pediatric Dermatology twice. Pediatric Cri cal Care twice. Twin Ci es conven on was also associated with Adolescent Branch, Infec ous diseases Branch, Pedico Legal branch, Computer and Finance branchs during annual conven ons. The branch was associated with NNF state branch in conduc ng Na onal Neocon twice. Most of the Na onal Presidents of IAP, delivered ora ons. Dr. Y.C. Mathur ora on, Dr. Sesha Sai ora on were added. Gold Medals for best papers were ins tuted. Dr. P.S. Murthy Quiz for Prac cing Pediatricians was an a rac on. Silver Jubilee of the Branch was celebrated in June 2013.
IAP Twin Ci s Branch has won many awards at Na onal level, for its ac vi es in various categories. Social ac vi es, Health camps and Sports ac vi es for Doctors were held regularly. The Branch has its office in OPD block of Niloufer Hospital and KREST building at Shaikpet. It also acquired a land parcel at Uppal Bhagait, for its office, social ac vi es. Branch is training public in BLS and NALS.
Some of the branch members, who had done exemplary service to the branch include Dr. T. Yadaiah, Dr. N.C. Mathur, Dr. P.S. Reddy, Dr. Shyam raj. They are no more with us, only physically. Some of the ac ve members of the branch, who are on Na onal scene are Dr. S. Sanjay, Dr. Hima Bindu Singh, Dr. U. Jagadish chandra Dr. J. V .Rao, Dr. C. Suresh kumar, Dr. G.Ravikumar, Dr. Ajoy kumar, r M. Surendranadh, Dr. Yashovanth rao , Dr. K.Krishnamurthy , Dr.S. Srikrishna, Dr.D . Ranganadh and Dr. Raj Sekhar. They are also instrumental in Star ng Family Benefit Scheme. Dr. Kancharla. Ramesh and Dr.Dinesh. Chirla, brought a Corporate touch Cons tu onal amendments were made twice to suit the changing mes and Geography. Bright days are ahead for IAP Twin Ci es branch with increased par cipa on at Na onal level.
